As Companies and Businesses as well as organisations of all kinds look for the competitive edge, we have seen that the traditional measure of competence i.e. IQ is not the only measure that is being used as means for hiring staff, developing leaders and ensuring that the future …

… workers and leaders [i.e. the school children] have the necessary skills to give any organisation much needed competitive advantages.

I am currently in India rolling out a series of Organisational Effectiveness seminars throughout the country that will give leaders the tools to first, develop their own EQ competencies and then to be in a position to develop others in their organisations.

Of course Emotional Intelligence In The Workplace is receiving much attention today – why ? because ‘straight A’ individuals are being hired and managers are realising that the ability to be in touch with oneself [Emotional Intelligence] and correspondingly be able to influence and reach others [Social Intelligence] are some of the key skills that are needed today.

It is great to see that here in India leaders have seen the need for such competencies and I am glad to be here to use my skills to effectively assist in changing the world through promoting excellence via Emotional Intelligence.

Does your organisation need a little help from a different perspective ??

Get in touch and maybe we can together do something to improve your circumstance.

Currently I am involved in consulting with organisations to aid them in developing and increasing their organisational effectivenes and focussing in on just what is it that makes a great versus mediocre leader. What was it for example that made Herb Kelleher [former CEO of South West Airlines] such a great leader who made people want to follow him.

Looking at great leaders from all walks of life we know intrinsically that they have ‘something makes people want to be around them and want to do their very best for them as a leader and for the organisation for which they work. Through continued breakthroughs in Neuro Science we now know that the brain acts as both a transmitting as well as a recieving organ – with respect to leadership the term "Social Intelligence" looks at the ability of a leader to cause the members of his/her team to cooperate, do their very best and ultimately improve the organisation.

Traditionally we would focus on the abilities of the leader [Emotional Intelligence] and of their skill level and competencies to be able to complete tasks but now; we are looking at how critically important Social Intelligence is to the qualities of a leader.

During this particular business trip I have spoken to over 1000 people on the topic of Social Intelligence and Leadership, it is my desire that I will be able to continue to use my consulting skills in new and fresh areas in order to improve organisational effectiveness and thereby help companies to generate more revenues.

How is your [or you managers] level of Social Intelligence and Leadership Abilities ? Do you think it could be worthwhile spending a couple of days away from day to day activities to look at how you can improve by getting to grips with this topic ??

If so – let me know, any comments ??

What do you really want in life? Most people don’t discover what they want in life until it’s time to die – and that’s a shame. Most people spend the best years of their lives watching television or doing things they dislike.

An author described humanity by saying, “Most people die at twenty and are buried at eighty.” Are you one of the living zombies? What do you really want in life? Some people struggle in answering such question. When asked what they want or what their goals in life are, many are unsure. They dillydally in their decision, hardly giving any thought about what they want in life. People without definite goals are letting time pass them by. Are you one of these people? If you are undecided about what you want out of life, do not worry. There are many ways of discovering your purpose in life. To discover what you want in life, try looking deep into your heart. Oftentimes, people are ruled by logic. People live by what they think they should be or by what others like them to be. The discovery process is the perfect time to listen to your heart. What your heart desires comes from the whispers of your authentic self. Your authentic self is the real you.

Listen to your heart to be able to listen to your authentic self. What your heart says usually feels right. What your heart desires is what you usually love to do and this represents your passion. Anything done with passion is like play where the task is accomplished without hesitation. You pour out your very best and feel no pressure or resistance.

You will totally enjoy doing things that are your passion. Setbacks, difficulties, and obstacles will make it more challenging, but should not deter you from pursuing your goals. Naturally, there may be barriers that may prevent you from reaching your goal, but your heart’s desire will find ways to overcome these barriers so that you may ultimately get what you want in life. Remember this: the universe supports people who are pursuing their passion and those who are pursuing their destiny. However, this does not mean that you don’t use your head. People are born with both the mind and heart. Your duty is to live your best life and be in harmony with your mind and heart. The poet Rumi wisely said, “Live completely in the head and you cannot feel the breath and rhythm of life. Live completely in the heart and you may find yourself acting like a love-struck fool with poor judgment and discipline. It’s all a fine balance – the head and heart must forge a lifetime partnership if one wants to live a beautiful life.”

Listen to your instinct. Part of human nature is the mysterious and spontaneous reaction on things. Often times, these are called instincts. Your authentic self communicates with you and guides you via instincts. Instincts are those gentle nudges that urge you to act and follow a certain path. Your role then is to listen attentively. Often times, we listen to what others say and allow them to run our lives. Parents often do this to their children. “We come from a family of doctors, so my son must also be a doctor.” How often do we hear this from parents who have good intentions for their children? Parents unconsciously block the true expression of their child’s real self and calling. Friends and critics will discourage you and point out the impossibility of your dream. Before heeding their advice, evaluate the accomplishments of the critics. Did they achieve theirs dreams? Do they dream big at all?

Remember, it is your destiny that is in line, not theirs. It doesn’t mean, though, that you will not listen to what other people say. Hear them out just the same. But the final decision should be yours. There is only thing to remember: Every person, to live truly and greatly, must define how he wants to live and what his brightest life will look like.  Listen to your instincts and follow your heart’s desire. You will never go wrong.

Those of you who read me regularly will know that I about getting the best out of ourselves as human beings in all aspects of life (physical, spiritual, financial etc). It is also important to take care of and listen to our bodies and to give it the care and attention that it needs. Too often we neglect our bodies and in time we get forced to pay attention to it when we get hit with some sort of illness. With that in mind I had the most amazing, relaxing, satisfying and stimulating Lastone Therapy my massage the other week.

Even though I say so myself (and I am no expert in this field) I thought that the job carried out by Lisa H Porter was of the highest professional standard. The room was finely scented, with candles burning and the most approrpriate relaxing music playing in the background.

My Lastone Therapy Massage experience lasted for 90 minutes and it felt like it was 10 minutes (relativity !!) and I wanted it to go on for longer. If was the perfect antidote to some of the stresses and strains I was dealing with. If you want to learn more about massage in general and Lastone Therapy Massage specifically – get in touch with Lisa H Porter, no matter where you are in the world !

We are all programmed, whether we understand, believe or care not – our perceptions and actions are all a result of our upbringing and the major influencing factors which have shaped us and this in turn leads on to work in conjunction with how the law of attraction works in our lives.

The words which come out of our mouths are based upon various factors but in essence, all leads to how we think and what we think about. Everything starts with our thoughts and our thoughts are linked into how our subsconscious minds have been programmed or shaped.

Think about the conversations you have both with yourself and with your colleagues, friends and family. For the purpose of this short post – I suggest that you take time out to write down what it is that you intend to Be, Do and Have in your life. When you do this on a constant basis (and I recommend you do this everyday to start with) your conversation i.e. the words which come out of your mouth will change according to the goals that you start to program into your being.

I am looking for input on this particualr topic i.e. out conversation and our subconscious minds. Please do tell me what you think – I’d love to receive your comments.

An essential element of public speaking that should always be considered is knowing how to make a bond with your audience. Public speaking skills like this is one effective way to establish connection that can makes you a great public speaker. In order to establish a connection, you must have a public speaking skills like understanding their situation.

For instance, as part of your public-speaking skills, you can establish questions on what are the reasons why they want to hear your speech or, in the downside, why they don’t. You can categorize your bonding strategies with your audience by age, gender, race, etc. And thus, it is essential that you are able to ask why the group is coming together You have to strive for this because this is one of the great avenue on mastering public speaking.

When you are to do public speaking, sometimes you need to give some instructions to your listeners as part of audience participation. However, such an intent can not be attained if you do not have a bonding with them. This is one of public-speaking techniques that some speakers do not give importance and that is the reason why they commonly fail to deliver a great speech.
