The function of any business is to service its active set of clients and that is where the area of expertise will lie. In this technology enabled world most companies know that they need to have a website – even though there are many companies out there in the world who still do not even have a website for their business !! Company owners also know that the internet has a big part to play in making sure people actually know about the products and services that they have to offer.

This leads us on to how marketing and the ongoing development of business strategies have changed over time. This leaves business owners with a decision to make, spend the time learning about all of the complexities of pushing the marketing message of their company out to the internet or, bring in outside consultants [such as Stephen C Campbell Consulting] to look at their top level business strategies first, and from thereon look to be able to develop an internet strategy that will incorporate the [more traditional non internet] existing business strategies with what must be done online.

As it stands at the time of writing we are seeing a shift from the dominance of online Search Engine Optimization to that of the ‘votes that any company receives in terms of online reputation and reviews based on the comments and feedback given to the company online by its previous and existing clientele.

We are also seeing a major shift towards mobile, that is to say – the number of people accessing the internet from mobile devices will overtake that of the desktop very soon. So how does the business owner cope with just these two [major] shifts ?? With all that there is to learn in the world of Mobile Apps development and Mobile Optimized Website design, the standard business would have to diver their attention from their core competencies.

At times a company can afford to hire an expert which works at times but very often leaves the company at a disadvantage as this person becomes locked into industry specific activities and modes of operation.

I was reading an interesting article the other day about the Billions, yes Billions of dollars that GE as a company adds to its bottom line in additional revenue because of the power of the GE brand. The question I ask myself, consulting clients and seminar attendees is – how much does your brand allow you to …

  • charge more for your products and services
  • get referrals
  • get clients coming to you
  • add to your bottomline revenue ..

… and the list could go on. Of course, what we are talking about here is the amount of Brand Equity that we have in the market place that can be translated into revenues.

Now, depending on what business you are in, you may develop a strategic plan to base your brand equity around what you consider to be your strength in the market place. This could be in the …

  • supply chain
  • technology innovation
  • product quality
  • technical support

… and other aspects of the business that can be used to differentiate you from the competition.

It is of course important to state that what any company focusses on may radically change based upon whether they are focussing their efforts on …

Business To Business or in the Business To Consumer

… marketing strategy development and branding activities.

As we all know, business strategies rank as one of the most searched phrases of all time in any given search engine. This is due to the fact that most of us are desperate enough to try all kinds of business strategies.

After all, business strategies help us ensure that our business is running well, and that they are the best they can be. Business strategies help us maximize the profit, while helping us with the budgeting and give us tips on how to set up a business and as well as how to maintain it.

This article will focus on business strategies for small businesses, that’s because, they are pretty common.

  • One of the more effective business strategies, for small and even big businesses, is be creative. Do not just stick with the common small business located in your area. Be creative. Think of a business that you can start with a small budget, but you can gradually upgrade and will be profitable. Typing jobs are okay. You can also set-up a printing shop.
  • Be wary of your surroundings. Take note of the other small business located in your area. Write all of them down, and see which are the most common, which have the most customers and hence, most profit, and which are the least common. This list will help you on what kind of small business that you should set up.
  • Be courteous, kind and friendly with your customers. If you have already setup your small business, doing all these three things I’ve mentioned will make sure that your customers will be coming back to you because of your pleasing personality. It also helps to always interact with your customers.
  • Do more than what is expected. Give your all. Give it your 110%. This is because doing more than what is expected will make sure that your customers will be pleased with your works. This is important in printing shops, typing jobs and even small business related to food.

Taking note of these seemingly simple action points will serve you well as you look to take your business forward.

… here in the UK; we worked over the phone after I review their Business Marketing Strategies in line with their website and overall internet presence [having a website does not mean that one has any presence on the internet !!]. I include a brief transcription of some of the feedback I received from one of the key decision makers.

Many thanks for the time you gave [our company] to review our existing web site and business. You very quickly appreciated our business needs and challenges without a lot of input and this maximised the time allotted to the tasks.

Your suggestions for improvements hit the right spots and has generated some new vigor around our marketing strategy.

The idea of being global in our offering was especially refreshing and could really have an impact. Thank you and we look forward to working with you again.

… Business Strategies, at times I act as more of a Mindset and Self Development consultant as at times, this is the key area that clients find themselves having to focus on.

Highly motivated and inspiring coach, helped me and guided me throughout the whole process with patience and caring. The coaching has helped me turn my life around – and get me out of the “I can’t because mentality …” I have overcome fears and I am not afraid to fail. There is no such thing as failure – just feedback. [who taught us about failure anyway – they got it so wrong].

A big thank you to Stephen C Campbell for giving me the tools to get myself free.

Following on the previous post …

One of the things that advisable for the business owner is to look for as many niche marketing examples as possible and take from them, specific examples that can be used in ones own business. Carefully analyzing the end user market using specific market segmentation strategies and processes will mean that the business owner will end up with a clear picture of its ideal client and where the main focus of the organization needs to be.

When considering specific internet marketing niche strategies – this will include making use of the various technologies such as podcasting, video marketing, blogging and a whole host of other tools that can be made use of to build ones business and brand making use of the universal power and availability of the internet.

With that said, we should make note that it is critical at the outset to ensure that the core value proposition and theme of the company [whether they happen to sell books online] is developed and communicated to the end user market place. When all is said and done – no matter what type of business is being executed, it is critically important to get the business fundamentals in place as early as possible, when this is done any small work from home business can end up ‘looking like the largest corporate and capture significant amounts of market share in their target market.

When we look at various companies and businesses that are found throughout the world – many people go on and wonder what it takes for those companies to keep major market shares and keep their brands at the forefront of the end user customers. After analysis we can be sure that it is down to significant and quality sales and marketing strategies that are developed and executed that can account for the success of those businesses.

With the widespread use of the internet, the use of a coherent business marketing strategy and of technologies – there is no reason why small work from home business cannot get hold of the very same go to market business strategies that are used by some of the most successful companies.

There seems to be no shortage of small business marketing ideas from which to choose from and with the state of the economies we see that there is a growing number of people who are looking to make their dreams come true their small work from home business. Some of the small business marketing strategies that have to be considered are in the area of niche marketing. This is an area that is not understood by many business owners and yet, when it is understood we can see remarkable increases in the fortunes of any business.
