Businesses of all sizes are looking to make use of the very best marketing consultants given that we are living in tough economic times. It has been said numerous times for good reason that ‘the heart and soul of business is the sales and marketing function’.

The fact is that making the desired end user customers aware of the products and services that the organisation has to offer is key in the first step for a successful business, to do this appropriate markerting channels need to the made use of.

Assuming the targets decide to purchase – the necessary and most efficient sales channels will then need to be employed to enable the marketplace to be able to purchase as many of the organisation’s products and services as possible.

Above are some of the necessities of ensuring the success of organisations and why the best marketing consultants are always in demand. As companies spend their time executing previously devised plans – there is often not the time and urgency to focus on developing key go to market strategies that will at times take the company in different directions.

It is for the reason above that it will continue to make sense for companies to seek outside help that can bring a much needed perspective that will act as :-

  • a catalyst for change
  • business growth
  • increeased revenues
  • better customer understanding

The bullets points above are some of the benefits that skilled business marketing strategy consultants can bring to any company.

Depending where your business stands today in its development, it may be that you can do your business a huge favour by making use of the services of a marketing consultant, work with them for a few months which can results in many millions of benefit in the long run.

Of course, as this is my profession – you could say that I am biased, however – the facts are there to speak for themselves. Sometime – "we don’t know what we don’t know" that of course goes for any area in life but for the purpose of this discussion; the application to the development of business is the main point.

Any questions ? don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Recently the business week top 50 companies in terms of business innovation list was released which made interesting reading. As a Business Marketing Strategy Consultant I took a look at the list to see what the key learnings were for me to take and to incorporate into my day to day Consulting, Speaking and Training

activities. For businesses of all sizes, Small and Medium Enterprises as well as large Corporates – we can see that those companies that did not rest on their laurels are the ones that surge forward.

One of the key trends was that of the increase in Asia companies such as :

  • China’s high speed bullet trains
  • China’s wind turbines
  • South Korea’s Hyundai
  • South Korea’s LG Electronics

Having worked with Far Eastern companies for many years and having experienced the privilege of residing and managing in the region for a few years I have witnessed first hand the high levels of intelligence and dedication that is to be found in such countries. Rapidly learning from the best practices found in the west and adding where appropriate in order to develop and grown their own brand into global powerhouses.

Herein is the key learning from this post – keep reading, studying, learning and applying new ideas to your business. This applies to managers from large corporates to the small SME and the location in the world that one is operating in does not matter.

HTC were a contract manufacturer for many years for …

  • Microsoft
  • Google
  • Verizon
  • NTT Docomo
  • T Mobile
  • Sprint Nextel

… and learnt from their experiences where we now see the HTC brand standing alone as a quality, sought after brand with a specific message.

To end with this theme of innovation, the question I’d like you to consider is – what are you doing different in your business from what you were doing three months ago ?? Are you implementing specific key innovation strategies, making use of the new technologies and trying new things to reach your clients and to establish exactly what your message is in the crowded marketplace that we can see all around us.

We can all innovate starting by making a list of where we are today, where we want to get to and determining how we are going to get there. To close – I would like you to never underestimate the power of outside consulting expertise to help to get where you wish to get to in as fast as time as possible.

We will speak more about innovation in another posting – for now, don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any comments or would like to talk about business consulting in general.

… here in the UK; we worked over the phone after I review their Business Marketing Strategies in line with their website and overall internet presence [having a website does not mean that one has any presence on the internet !!]. I include a brief transcription of some of the feedback I received from one of the key decision makers.

Many thanks for the time you gave [our company] to review our existing web site and business. You very quickly appreciated our business needs and challenges without a lot of input and this maximised the time allotted to the tasks.

Your suggestions for improvements hit the right spots and has generated some new vigor around our marketing strategy.

The idea of being global in our offering was especially refreshing and could really have an impact. Thank you and we look forward to working with you again.

Business Marketing & Strategy

Your business, my business and overy other person’s business out there in the world at large lives and dies by the strength of its sales and outbound marketing. While it is at times easy to get focussed inwards working on the day to day business activities – it is imperative to keep an outward looking marketing, strategic view when it comes to thinking about and dealing with ones products and services.

One of the best things to do is to continually ask the question ‘who is my product and services for’ yes, that is who, in the singular. Although we do sell to groups of people and organisations, at the end of the day it is individuals that make purchasing decisions. Refining our business marketing message so that we are targetting our products and service for someone will enable us to meet the needs of the end user and; ultimately sell more.

This in line with core marketing strategies when considered will serve to assist take your business to the next level. As I continue to work with SMEs – the challenge is to get them to focus outwards and of course to get them to embrace the richness that the internet has to offer when considering it as a Marketing Channel.

More on this in another post, let me know if you have any comments or if there is indeed anything I can do for you to assist taking your business forward.

Stephen C Campbell

I am asked many questions about business and, now that I have my own weekly business focussed radio program, one of the questions that I am constantly asked is that of where the internet fits into ones overall business strategy. Before answering the question here, one of the main mistakes I see being made by the business owner is :-

  • Throwing up a website
  • Placing multiple Ads in Yellow Pages
  • Placing Ads in the classifieds

Not that there is anything wrong with using any and/or all of the items above but what I often see is that this is normally done without the use of a coherent Business Marketing Strategy. Unfortunately, most do not see the reason for taking time up front in order to put time [and money] into :-

  • Defining the message of your product/service
  • Working on your brand
  • Looking at Marketing Channels
  • Going through the Marketing Segmentation exercise
  • Pricing

… and, of course – the list could go on and on. The point is that large companies have qualified people in marketing departments working on these components all day long so, how important should this be for the small business owner. Of course this is business people such as myself come into play with being able to site down and to spend time with the business owner who is not skilled in marketing and to be able to help them to develop their core business marketing plans.

This is where we come to talk about the internet and how it should be viewed in the overall context of the business – I have run out of time, so will continue this in another post shortly.

What do you think ? any comments ? do let me know.

As every small business operating in the bustling economy of London from time to time needs outside help. It seems that it is difficult at time to find a professional management consultant able to go into a business and to help to cut through the clutter and to develop the plans and strategies that are necessary to help take the business to the next level.

There are various skills that are needed for this to happen including background depth of experience as well as an excellent academic record. Although based in the South West of the United Kingdom I have been conducting business in London for the past years and the variety and diversity of businesses make it a rewarding experience. I spoke about business strategy development during my lecture at Cass Business School last year and it is this structure that I continue to work towards when developing strategies within corporations.

If you are looking for outside help and need a qualified london management consultant to come into your organisation and assist in giving structure and direction to the organisation. I’d love to hear from you, as I have been developing core expertise in using the internet as a marketing channel too – this is something that you may well want to incorporate into your organisation.

Thanks for reading – hope to hear from you ….
