I gave a presentation the other week about the process of marketing and the internet. It was interesting to see the reaction and anticipation of the audience when I got through some 30 minutes of the business marketing strategy information output without really going into any real depth about the internet.
The point that I am always trying to make is how to view the internet as a part of the overal business marketing strategy of any organisation. Of course all large and small companies know that they need to have a website, this is where I see so many problems in relation to the development and execution of a business internet marketing strategy. That is to say, there often is no strategy – the website is ‘thrown onto the internet because the Small Business Owner has been told that they must have a website [which is true – I would say].
As I develop key Business Marketing Strategies from conception to implementation it is the message of the organisation that needs to be clearly understood by the business owner before that message can be communicated by any medium. That is where it comes to the message that I am constantly putting forth …
View the internet as a Marketing Channel
- If your message is not clear
- If you have not defined your key Marketing Segments
- If you have not identified the most appropriate Channels To Market
- If you have not taken the time to define the Profile of your Ideal Client.
… And of course the list could go on with all of the components that a Strategic Business Internet Marketing Consultant [the function that I provide] bring to any business. As you would hire a chef to prepare the food in your restaurant [and not try to learn how to cook yourself] – hire in a Business Marketing Strategy Consultant to help take your business to the next level.

Your business, my business and overy other person’s business out there in the world at large lives and dies by the strength of its sales and outbound marketing. While it is at times easy to get focussed inwards working on the day to day business activities – it is imperative to keep an outward looking marketing, strategic view when it comes to thinking about and dealing with ones products and services.
One of the best things to do is to continually ask the question ‘who is my product and services for’ yes, that is who, in the singular. Although we do sell to groups of people and organisations, at the end of the day it is individuals that make purchasing decisions. Refining our business marketing message so that we are targetting our products and service for someone will enable us to meet the needs of the end user and; ultimately sell more.
This in line with core marketing strategies when considered will serve to assist take your business to the next level. As I continue to work with SMEs – the challenge is to get them to focus outwards and of course to get them to embrace the richness that the internet has to offer when considering it as a Marketing Channel.
More on this in another post, let me know if you have any comments or if there is indeed anything I can do for you to assist taking your business forward.

Sales and marketing are the two processes that complement each other completely. One can not go without the other. Lead generation is marketing and closing the final deal is sales accomplished. The model followed by each company for these two processes may differ.
Cold calling is one very popular method adopted by many. ‘Sales and Marketing- Six Sigma Way’ is one system that is used and adopted by various organisations. Whatever the stage of your business, whether you are in the startup stages or rapidly growing, it makes good strategic sense to emply robust sales and marketing strategies in order to take your business to the next level.

Time makes the world go round. This fact itself answers the question- why is time management so important? It is all about managing all your time well and getting the maximum out of it. The importance of time management lies in the fact that it leads to the development of good personal and professional habits.
Setting the priorities right and doing much than one can do in those very 24 hours is all about time management. Better time management leads to achievement of goals that in turn bring success. Therefore success is all about sucking the most out of time.

Let take a look at two basic steps which need to be followed when writing Goals, before we continue – remember to see http://www.usingyoursubconsciousmind.com/ for more detailed information on using your subconscious to take your life to the next level.
Goals need to be specific : With the help of a specific goal, the aim is specific and one is able to know what one exactly wants from a particular thing. There should be some specific standards for achieving something. While making some specific goals it is important to write down the goals as it is an important part of goal-setting. If it is specific the chances of success is high.
Goal Need To Be Measurable : If one wants a goal to succeed it should be measured. The progress of the goal should be measured and there are some specific criteria that tell about the time in which is achieved and one can stop. One should feel the progress as it helps in staying focused and enjoy the progress of the goal.

As I discuss the possibility of being hired as Business Consultant often by the small business owner, the question which often arises is “I have managed up until now without a marketing consultant, why do I need one now?” After I dig a little deeper what I normally find is that my prospective client’s business has been stagnant for years, that they have been doing things the way they always have and; as we know that guarantees we get the same results.
Of course, if you have not been trained in the marketing discipline, have a natural tendency or bias to market or not been exposed to classic marketing principles there is not reason why you should know exactly marketing is or how to execute marketing in your business. My advice to any prospective client or to you reading from wherever you are in the world is, if you are not moving with the times, learning and executing sound marketing principles to take your business to the next level – you are missing out on potential new customers, business growth, wealth creation and more.
Specifically, failure to make extensive use of the internet to generate awareness for your company, build your brand, establish your expertise and to reach customers from all corners of the earth is something I consider as a BIG mistake. If you are unable to grasp the new technologies, don’t have the time or personnel to execute the necessary tasks then the next best thing is to hire a consultant.
It is particularly rewarding for me to bring my experience of conducting business throughout Europe, the U.S. and the Far East to my consulting practice and to help in taking my clients business to the next level. Look out for some more posts in the Business Consultancy field real soon and for some products which I am putting together to help other with their marketing.
As always, please do feel free to post your comments and let me know what you think.
